Abstract

One of the (many) challenges in scalable quantum computing with trapped ions is the transport of the ions. The transport of the ions needs to be done while avoiding the arch-enemy of ion-trappers: motional heating. In my talk we’ll discuss a recent paper by Sutherland et al. that explores a new protocol of ion transport, which promises to be fast and adiabatic. This is achieved by squeezing the motion.
