Welcome Events
📣 Hello Quantum Engineering community! 📣
A very warm welcome to all new Quantum Engineering students joining ETH this semester! We hope you are excited for the start of your studies, meeting your fellow students, and becoming part of the Quantum Engineering community. 💙
The first few weeks can be quite busy, so we have collected some of the most important events and dates below to help you get started and find your way around.
Who are these events for?
The Quantum Engineering Commission (QEC) is the student association of the Quantum Engineering Master’s programme at ETH Zürich and is part of AMIV. Our goal is to bring students together, support you throughout your studies, and create opportunities to connect with the wider quantum community.
The events below are organized by the QEC, fellow students, and ETH D-ITET department. They are intended specifically for new Quantum Engineering students and are designed to help you get started, meet your fellow students, and become familiar with the QE community.
Whether an event is academic, social, or simply a chance to meet other students, we highly recommend joining whenever you can. It is one of the easiest ways to get to know the people you will be studying with over the coming semesters. 😊

💡 A few tips for your first weeks
- Don’t worry if you don’t know anyone yet. Most new students are in exactly the same situation. Welcome events are a great opportunity to meet your classmates before the semester gets too busy.
- Keep an eye on the QEC channels. Event details, room changes, registrations, and new activities will be announced throughout the semester. You can also regularly check qec.amiv.ethz.ch or join the QEC WhatsApp group.
- Check the location before heading out. ETH buildings are spread across different campuses, particularly Zentrum and Hönggerberg, so allow some extra travel time if you are visiting a building for the first time.
- Don’t hesitate to ask older QE students. Whether you have questions about courses, exams, projects, or life at ETH, there are plenty of students who have already been through the same process.
- Make use of the QEC resources. Throughout your studies, QEC offers opportunities such as academic events, social activities, study resources, and support from fellow students.
- And most importantly: join in! The Quantum Engineering programme is relatively small, which makes it easy to get to know people across different semesters. The more you participate, the more you will get out of the community. 🚀
We are looking forward to meeting you and wish you a great start at ETH Zürich and in the Quantum Engineering programme! 🎉
See you around,
Your QEC Team 💙
